Instrametal

Our first MOTHERFUDD 2010 pre-fest interview with South African instrumental metal metalists, INSTRAMETAL! Now that’s a mouth-full for a band without a vocalist!

Interview By: Scream

Headbang Today: Welcome to the Headbanger neighbourhood, where headbanging is cumpulsory and Emo kids have limited rights. For the headbangers that’ll be attending MotherFUDD who don’t know who you are, tell them a bit about yourselves and what they can expect from you musically and stage performance wise.

Instrametal: Instrametal was originally a recording project of Wiets Botes that turned into a live performance after we were informed that we made the MotherFudd 2010 line-up. We have since recruited the skills of Derron Ferreira on bass and Leon Kemp on drums. Expect the unexpected.

Headbang Today: Which one of your songs out of your set are guarrenteed to most likely get the entire crowd to Headbang to?

Instrametal: All our songs are aimed to give the headbang-effect. Whiplash, is after all, better than a stiff ass?!

Headbang Today: Got any other gigs or tours lined up for 2010 besides MotherFUDD?

Instrametal: Nothing at this stage but maybe at some other stage we will get the opportunity to be on stage…

Headbang Today:  Does the band have any pre-show rituals Motherfudders and headbangers alike should be aware of?

Instrametal: We fly butterflies around in our stomach.

Headbang Today: Being a fan of instrumental metal myself, I’ve learned that music that was originally written without vocal work in mind, can never be improved when vocals are added. Instrametal will probably never see a vocalist right?

Instrametal: Nope! the ingredients for our sound is music – no other stuff.

Headbang Today: Tell us how awesome South African headbangers are exactly. Tell them why MotherFUDD 2010 is an event not to be missed!

Instrametal: Cos we (metalheads) are the purist race out there and Motherfudd is the AFRICAN Metal Mecca and holy grail. A journey not to be missed! Plus, this year SA metalheads can write there name’s in the Guiness Book of World records for the most people head banging simultaneously. All you have to do is be at MotherFudd, Saturday 13 March 2010 from 11am (so that you don’t miss us)

Headbang Today: Your sickest gig ever was when…

Instrametal: Has to be the Helloween Festival 2009 in hometown, Middelburg.

Headbang Today: With your new album, ‘Flesh Catastrophe’ out, where does Instrametal go from here?

Instrametal: Play as many quality gig’s as possible making sure we get the album into every South African metal head’s CD collection!

Headbang Today: You heard them HEADBANGERS! Get the album! Last but not least! Recording for bands and their budgets always seem to clash at some point in their careers. Do you think our band competition is worth running if the artists are expected to record their entries themselves? Would Instrametal be interested in competing?

Instrametal: Some artists have facilities to do their own recordings and your competition will most definitely exclude all the talented bands that is not so fortunate.

If time permits we would consider joining the competition.

Headbang Today: Any last words?

Instrametal: See you all at MotherFudd 2010!!
