It comes to no surprise that the sweet sound of metal can be found all over the world but it’s even less of a surprise that there is no country as talented in with the hard and the heavy quite like Finland. But what is it about Finland that produces such a large bulk of epic metal bands? Is it because they have death metal neighbours in Sweden or black metal neighbours in Norway? Or is it both? Is it because they also have epic online poker games? It comes to no surprise that the sweet sound of metal can be found all over the world but it’s even less of a surprise that there is no country as talented in with the hard and the heavy quite like Finland. The most prestigious bands such as Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Finntroll and hell even Wintersun hail along with dedicated lists of the best hailing from Finland.  And if anyone disagrees with any of the above mentioned names being labelled ‘prestigious’, then you probably haven’t heard of them and you should pull your head out of your ass. I mean, according to Marco, Finntroll are awesome. Believe it. Accept it. Listen to “En Maktig Har” and you’ll see what he means. One possibility that crossed my mind was that the Finnish population have become bored with what they have so that resulted in them picking up instruments and  forming bands to entertain each other and keep warm… but that can’t be it either. There is more to Finland than just metal. There are professional world champion poker players, I mean they have their own partypoker in Finland which is a brand with over 30 million downloads since 2011 along with other methods of entertainment such as 67 commercial radio stations, production of an average of 12 feature films. Finland also sells 12 million records per year – How can boredom be a factor? They have online poker! So with even a global number one ranking ice hockey team from Finland and The Dudesons, we probably don’t need a reason as to why Finland produces some of the top metal bands out there. It would be like answering a rhetorical question. The Finnish simply seem to have ‘best’ and ‘hardcore’ running throughout their veins. So, whatever it is they’re feeding the parents before reproduction, we encourage them to keep it up! Thank you Finland for all your awesome metal! We salute you!
