The story so far…

32 bands have entered. Some of them had metal-horned balls and entered themselves into this tournament, while we hand-selected the rest.
Round 1 started where fans and potential fans had to vote for their favorite band in each bracket. Voting ends every Friday while new bands in the remaining round’s brackets are announced over weekends.
One band has left the tournament due to legal obligations and since Pray For Locust also had the most votes, we felt that it was only fair to put them through to round 2 instead of organizing another competing band and resetting the scores! Voting in the first week went well and the first 4 bands for round two had been announced below!
Week two went a bit rough and we saw many tight battles. One that stood out particularly was the fan battle between In The Casket and First Reign. In The Casket racked up a total of 574 votes while First Reign raked in a close 536! We also decided that we’ll be giving First Reign a second chance in the tournament as a wildcard band!
HeadbangToday.com had to migrate servers and tried desperately to avoid any downtime and GARAGEDAYS pulled out due to a heavy touring schedule whilst also having a tight battle with Meimera Deiji. As Meimera ended up as the more dominant band, they have rightfully earned their spot in the second round!
THE CONTESTANTS SO FAR (more to come):
Pray For Locust
Ancient Ascendant
Riddare Av Koden
ATHANATOR
Carried By Six
In The Casket
Meimera Deiji

Headbang Today as we know it has come to a complete standstill. We will not release any new interviews or reviews until our online 32-band heavy metal tournament aka Underground Kings has finished.
The winning band emerging from this tournament will get endoresed by Headbang Today where we will be giving them unlimited exposure, constant interviews and premium advertisements throughout HeadbangToday.com
With 32 bands lined up, voting by the fans has begun and bands are to be knocked out with the remaining going through to the next rounds. These bands will be tested on their fanbases, material released, videos, marketing skills and then of course their music!
This page will be constantly updated with the latest progress and results thus far.
This tournament is a true test of anticipated band qualities and will reflect the honest ethics that will showcase why these guys will get rocked out to by thousands one day!

A Fate Like Yours
Where The Fallen Lie
First Reign
Reverse The Sands
Rules:
It’s impossible to cheat. Our scoring, voting results and review ratings are done with our own algorithms and scorecards. If, for some strange and rare reason, we DO suspect cheatin’ then we’ll simply just eliminate the suspected band and put their opponent through to the next round.
In the event of a draw, Headbang Today will do power reviews on a randomly selected song from each band. The review with the best rating will go through to the next round.
Our prize to the winning band is dedicated publicity via Headbang Today’s channels. If we for some reason get a prize sponsored to us from a third party company (depending on whether it’s better or worse than our own prize), we will have the right to determine whether that prize will go to the band in first position along with our primary prize or to the band in 2nd position. (Oh yeah, before we forget: NO, all prizes associated with this tournament are non-negotiable and cannot be converted to cash nor any other form other than the medium we commit ourselves to or the prize that is intended to be rewarded by a sponsor.)
Wild card bands will only be allowed a second chance in the tournament if a band pulls out of the tournament.
Headbang Today’s voting polls were developed by a third party site (Polldaddy.com) and we therefore assure you that we are unable to alter any votes. The scores at the end of each week are final. Judges decisions are final. Fans’ decisions will also be final (unless they change their mind in another rounds’ votes!)
Headbang Today does not store any personal data from visitors on this site’s servers. The only information we may store, is your email address after you sign up for our newsletters or if you contact Scream.
We hate registrations. We hate admin. So, therefore you don’t ever have to sign up for anything on our site other than for the occasional newsletters we send out.
We’ve contacted all the bands that we hand-picked for this tournament and informed them about the tournament. If a band for some reason change their mind and do not want their bands’ name on HeadbangToday.com then we require a 24 hour notice. We’ll gladly remove your stuff then.
Final rule – STAY METAL!

Interview with Jari Maenpaa from WINTERSUN:
Sindulgence are a melodic blackened death metal band on the rise to conquer South Africa's underground scene.
M.Y.G are a promising metal band with ear splitting metal. With Headbang Today’s very own compilation metal album in the pipeline, it comes to no surprise that we’re on the hunt for candidate bands to feature on our album. With that being said, I couldn’t help but asses MYG’s worthiness of making it to our album.
